Alumni Association Activities
Alumni Database - For the past several years the Alumni Association has been creating and updating
its alumni database. Our database currently contains almost 6000 names and its updating is an on-going process. One of our goals is to unite alumni of all decades, and to keep them informed of Bay Shore School and Community news. Contact us to update your personal information and to be informed about future alumni activities.
Alumni Newsletter - Our Maroon Echo Messenger is edited by Jack D Percival, Class of 1948. This informative and enjoyable newsletter will be published at least once every year and mailed to all dues paying Alumni Association members. If you would like to submit an article about an alumnus, an inspiring faculty member, or share a story of interest, please contact us. To save us time, e-mailed letters or articles are preferred. Send e-mails to
Harry Brown, email@example.com.
Alumni Directory Book - In 2003
our Alumni Directory book was published and distributed to all that placed orders with Harris Publishing. The directory book contains over 19,000 listings and was offered in a deluxe hard cover edition, a soft bound version, and in CD ROM form. The introductory section contains letters from our Superintendent of Schools, our High School Principal, and our Alumni Association President. A sports championship page, and a brief capsulization of our school districts 110 year evolution follows. New photos highlight our students and unique educational programs. A concluding page showcases the
inaugural fifteen inductees to our newly created Bay Shore High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame. The extensive alumni listings are then presented in a biographical section by alphabetical order, by class year, and again by geographical region based upon each individuals last known residence. Any updates or corrections to the data contained in this directory book can be made by each individual by accessing our on-line directory. Such updates will ensure that future directory book publications will be as accurate as possible.
Alumni On-Line Directory - Our Alumni On-Line Directory is now available through this website. To gain access to the 19,000 alumni listings you must first register at this site and obtain your own personal entry name and password. There is no cost to register. This service is free, but you must register first. Once registered, you will also be able to update your own personal data as needed. Have fun exploring and looking up past classmates and friends!
Alumni Hall of Fame - Our inaugural Alumni Hall of Fame induction dinner ceremony was held on October 22, 2002 at
Captain Bill's Bayview House. Over 260 people attended this wonderful event. Fifteen prominent and inspiring individuals were inducted.
This celebration was repeated in 2003 and 2004. Our honorees now total 37. For more information on our
Alumni Hall of Fame, or if you would like to nominate a deserving alumni or former school staff employee, see our
Hall of Fame page dedicated to this topic.
Scholarship Fund - Through fund raising
events and donations, the Alumni Association has established a Scholarship Fund
for Bay Shore High School graduates. Each year, on Senior Awards Night, we
present financial awards to graduating seniors. The number of awards offered
will grow as our funding increases. If you would like to contribute to the BSHS
Scholarship Fund, please contact

Adopt-a-Chair - The Alumni Association continues to support and promote the High School Adopt-a-Chair program.
Our newly renovated high school auditorium now features state-of-the-art
acoustics and lighting, and reupholstered audience seating. Many people took
advantage of this adopt-a-chair program to honor a family member or friend. For
a $100.00 donation a name plate in memory of, or in honor of, will be affixed to a refurbished chair. Make check payable to "Bay Shore High School". Contact us for further details. Download an Adopt-a-Chair Form

Community Participation - Our alumni group seeks to maintain an active presence in the community and school district. We will continue to participate in such events as Homecoming, the St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Memorial Day Parade, high school sporting events, the Community Summit Conference, and other events as appropriate.
Annual Golf Outing - An annual golf outing is in the planning stages. Our local alumni golf
professional, Joe Malloy (class of 1951) will be assisting us with this fun filled event. Additional details will be forthcoming.
Alumni in the Arts - The Bay Shore School District has a long history of support of the arts in both curriculum and extra-curricular programming. An effort is now underway to develop a database that will identify Bay Shore alumni who have pursued careers in the arts. Click here to download a copy of the survey which has been distributed through a variety of organizations including the BS Alumni Association, the Bay
Shore Arts Education Fund, The Bay Shore Brightwaters Summit Council the school district newsletter, as well as through Bay Shore faculty members past and present. Artist-Alumni will be invited to participate in a residency program that will benefit both the student population and community at-large. Residency venues will include the public schools, the Great South Bay YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts, and the federally
land marked Second Avenue Firehouse. The residencies will be administered by the Bay Shore Schools Arts Education Fund and the Bay Shore Schools.
